The need to integrate data stores with desktop applications isn’t going to go away anytime soon, but no modern business can ignore the need to access and provide data online. 360Data is not a web site design bureau, but we are experienced in incorporating SQL data stores in web sites and applications. ASP.NET is the Microsoft web application framework, and we use it to build web applications and web services linked to live SQL databases.

Flexibility, power and ease-of-use

ASP.NET web applications provide flexibility and ease of use in ways that are difficult or impossible with traditional desktop applications. The adaptability and ability to link information from disparate sources (or to drill-down to more detailed information) that is the strength of web sites can be combined with the functionality and power of SQL databases to provide innovative but practical data solutions. Web applications run in the internet browsers installed on every machine, so there’s no need for workstation installations and the associated licensing costs. Updates are uncomplicated because only server files are modified, and data can be made available to (and, if needs be, protected from) partners and customers as well as within your own offices.

ASP.NET web applications can be used to enter, maintain and modify SQL data stores, as well as reporting and presenting data, making it possible to create complete workflows and data systems running in a simple web browser. Simple doesn’t mean incomplete, though: your business rules and logic can be incorporated into the application design to ensure that your data is complete, consistent, correct and meaningful.

Web services and XML

Perhaps you don’t need a full application, merely just a way to provide or import data from your customers or suppliers in formats they can use. We can help you make your data available as a web service or in a variety of formats including XML. XML-formatted data is platform and application-independent and is becoming a standard for data interchange in many different industries.

SQL Server 2005 and 2008 include powerful e-mail integration features, including the ability to send mails based on the contents of your databases or in response to system events.
